SVP MASS FOR THE SICK
On Sunday, 30 September 2007, a special Mass was held at 2.00pm at St Mary Magdalen's. The Mass was arranged by the SVP especially for the sick and the housebound.
It was a moving and uplifting occasion.
It was fitting that, at the same time at St Teresa's, there was Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament so others were praying for those gathered at St Mary Magdalen's.
In his homily, Fr Austin spoke of the witness given by the Little Flower.
In worldly terms, she had little going for her and most of her short life was dogged by sickness but she filled the community of sisters with love, laughter and warmth.
It is through our uselessness, physically or mentally, that our lives can give glory to God and also enrich people around us.
If we hold close to God, even in our weakness, then our courage and gentleness and faith will be a powerful witness to those around us and, especially, the young.
After the homily, Fr Austin moved amongst the elderly, sick or housebound to give the sacrament of the anointing of the sick.

Refreshments were provided by the Ladies following Mass and it was a great opportunity for the elderly and housebound to socialise.
All in all, a truly wonderful occasion.
