HIRING THE HALL - GENERAL

St Mary Magdalen's Church Hall is situated adjacent to St Mary Magdalen RC Church, turning into Buller Avenue from Leyland Road Penwortham.

The Hall has a maximum capacity of 75 and comprises :

  • a dance/seating area

  • a small stage area

  • ladies/disabled and gents toilets

  • kitchen

Parking is available at the front and back of the Hall with additional parking in the school yard if required.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HIRE THE HALL?

The hall is available for hire for a fee of £25 per session.

NB short, medium and long term Church Hall Hire Arrangements are available on request

Payment should normally be made on the day of hire and should, wherever possible, be by cheque.

WHEN CAN THE HALL BE HIRED?

The hall can be hired in one or more of three sessions :

  • Mornings between 9.00am and 1.00pm

  • Afternoons between 1.00pm and 6.00pm

  • Evenings between 6.00pm and 11.00pm

If you wish to hire the hall for two consecutive sessions, the charge will be £50.

If you wish to hire the hall for three consecutive sessions, the charge will be £75.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE?

The hirer is responsible for any breakage / damages and will be expected to make good any loss.

Remember, the hall is provided for the benefit of all parishioners, their friends and relatives so it is only fair and reasonable that those who use the hall should leave it in a manner that they would expect to find it.

WHAT ABOUT CLEARING UP AFTER
THE PERIOD OF HIRE?

The hirer is responsible for ensuring that the hall is left in the same state as it was hired; any waste must taken away with you at the end of the period of hire.

Where it proves necessary for others to clear up, the hirer will be responsible for reimbursing any incurred costs.

ANY SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT FOOD FOR THE EVENT?

ALCOHOL

St Mary Magdalen's Church Hall does not hold an alcohol license so no alcoholic drinks can be offered for sale at any event.

FOOD

It is strongly recommended that food is prepared, delivered and served in a safe, hygienic manner.

For your safety, food should be consumed within an hour of delivery.

APPLICATION TO HIRE THE HALL

   
DECLARATION
In making this application, I accept that I am responsible for making good any damage/loss caused to the hall and its contents during the period of hire.
I understand that I am responsible for the Health and Safety of guests during the period of hire and declare that I have read and will abide by the Church Hall's Fire Procedure.
I also agree that, should the hall require cleaning/tidying/repair immediately following the period of hire, I will settle any consequent invoices immediately on presentation to me.

FIRE PROCEDURE
AT ST MARY MAGDALEN'S HALL

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THERE IS A FIRE?

It is the responsibility of the hirer of the hall to ensure that all his/her guests are made aware of the fire procedures including the location of the fire bell, fire fighting appliances and fire exits.

Any person discovering a fire should immediately shout "Fire, Fire, Fire", ring the hand "fire bell" (located at the main entrance to the Church Hall) and evacuate the building via a suitable emergency exit.

FIRE EXITS

There are three clearly marked Emergency/Fire Exit signs/doors, which are located :

  • The main entrance

  • To the left of the stage

  • To the right of the stage

FIRE APPLIANCES

The fire appliances provided are appropriate for the type of fire that may occur in the hall.

  • One water extinguisher, located adjacent to front main door

  • Two water extinguishers, located in the stage large cabinet for Scouts

  • One CO2 Gas extinguisher for electrical fires, located on the stage

  • Water & CO2 Gas extinguishers, located adjacent to the ladies toilet

  • CO2 Gas extinguisher and Fire Blanket are located in the Kitchen

If you feel that it is safe to do so, attack the fire with the appliances provided - remember to read the instructions on the appliance but also remember ......

DO NOT ENDANGER YOURSELF OR OTHERS
BY ATTEMPTING TO FIGHT A FIRE -
IF IN DOUBT, GET OUT

FIRE ASSEMBLY POINT

The Assembly Point is in the Front Church Car Park - please ensure that all guests know where this is located.

You should use a "guest list" so that you can ensure that everyone is accounted for in the event of an evacuation due to fire - this will prove invaluable to the Fire Service/Police/Ambulance if you have summoned them.

CALLING THE EMERGENCY SERVICES

If you feel that the fire should not be tackled with the equipment provided, call the fire brigade by dialling 999 and tell the Fire Service Operator the full location details of the hall :
